ふと思いついたのだが、様々な芸術や技能は作る系か選ぶ系かに分けられそう。絵画は一般的には作るでコラージュは選ぶである。彫刻は作る、写真は選ぶ、ダンスやパフォーマンスは作る、音楽も作る、でも DJ は選ぶ、とか。
絵画で言えばマチエール（質感）はかなり個人の好みの差が大きくて、ざらついたものが好きか平滑でつるっとしたものが好きかは鑑賞者にしても制作者にしても結構決まっててしかもなかなか変わらない（制作に関して言えば「一生変わらない」とちょっと脅しとも取れる雰囲気で聞いたこともある・・・コワ・・・ちなみに自分の場合はつるっと派だ）。それと同じように、作る系・選ぶ系どっちに与するかというのは、恐らくは容易には変わらない。それはいわば、生きる上での態度や価値観に関わる部分がある。
It occurred to me that various arts and skills can be divided into “making” or “choosing”. Painting is generally making and collage is choosing. Sculpture is making, photography is choosing, dance and performance is making, music is making, but DJ is choosing.
In the case of paintings, there is a big difference in personal preference for matiere (texture), and whether the viewer or the creator likes it rough or smooth is pretty much decided, and it doesn’t change easily. (I prefer a smooth, simple texture, not a very deep, elaborate one.) In the same way, it is not easy to change from maker/chooser to other one. It has, so to speak, a strong correlation with our attitude and values in life of ourselves.
