最近、コンセプト、テーマ、意味を意識しないで絵を描くことに努めているのだが、これらをギリギリと考えても（自分の場合）「小人閑居して不善を成す」のテイになるのが関の山ではないかという「ほぼ確信」が生じてきたからである。
子犬を動かそうと思って押すとこっちの手に絡んでくるだけだし、カタツムリなんか押すと逆に止まってしまう（想像）。あれと同じで、自然にしといた方が、動く。どこかへ行ってしまったり、ゆっくりだったりはするかもしれないが。
ここでいう動くとは、ものが出来ていくということ。
で、コンセプト、テーマ、意味というものは実はゼロになんかならない。自分のどこかでこんこんと湧き出てかつ変化しており、「考えて」できるのは、恐らく邪魔だけ。
Don’t Push Snails
Recently, I have been trying to paint pictures without being conscious of concept, theme, or meaning, because I have become almost convinced that even if I consider these things, I will mostly end up with not better works.
If I push a puppy to move it, it will only get entangled in my hands wanting to play with me, and if I push a snail, it will stop (maybe). Just like a snail, if you let it move naturally, it will at least move, although it may go away or move slowly.
What I mean by “moving” here is that something is being created.
But concepts, themes, and meanings do not actually become zero even we take this attitude. They spring up and change in some part of our work. So the only thing we can do by “thinking” is probably disturbing natural flow of things.
